Apartment in the Telles de Melo Palace
The former Telles de Melo palace is located in Alfama, the oldest and one of the most typical districts of the city of Lisbon. Built between 1690 and 1700, this palace stands next to the old " Porte de la Croix " which was part of the Fernandina city fence of 1383, on which the palace was built.
The Palace remained in the family of the descendants of Luis Correia da Paz, the last owner being Ana Leonor Telles de Melo, married to João Pedro Maria Lobo de Castro Pimentel Padilha, these being the last members of the Telles de Melo family to inhabit the palace until around 1880, after which part of the palace would be rented out for the installation of the college of the Dominican sisters of Santa Catarina de Siena.
In 1888, the palace was purchased by José Maria do Espírito Santo Silva, who divided it into parts of a house to be rented to several families. The Espírito Santo Silva family transferred the palace to a horizontal property and sold the resulting fractions in 1983.
The property occupies the entire second floor of the palace and features wide antique pine floors, pine crate ceilings, original eighteenth-century shutters. XVIIIth, waxed, exotic wood, some tiled walls, front and side river views through 11 balconies with iron balconies, original early XVIIIth and two windows.
The apartment consists of five living rooms, six bedrooms, two kitchens, garden with heated pool (10mX4m) and Jacuzzi.
In the space currently used as a garage, we also find the former chapel living room, an interior room, a bathroom, a 26 m2 outdoor patio and the area of the former cookie oven, before the palace was built.
If buyers are interested, there is another small fraction on the second floor that can also be purchased and thus have the entire second floor.
There is the possibility of purchasing some of the furniture found in the property.
