Exceptional villa with spectacular views of the Pacific
Villa Romantica is a true tropical dream villa, spacious and designed for comfort, elegance and understated luxury. Built on the impressive rugged coastline of Playa Roble in Carrillo, the main villa was completed in 2003.
The villa is located to the south of the 5.9-hectare property, entirely surrounded by jungle. To the north of the property, after a hike, you can reach the highest part of the property, which offers views over the entire Nicoya Peninsula. The estate is a nature reserve, home to howler and white-faced monkeys, toucans, macaws and the incredible wildlife of Costa Rica's Blue Zone. The privacy, seclusion and luxury of Villa Romantica are truly unique, a special estate for very special people.
Situated on a cul-de-sac, 500 feet above sea level, Villa Romantica is the result of 10 years of planning, design, materials research and 8 years of construction. With skill and care, the owners have combined the perfection of their Italian and Mediterranean roots to build their dream with timeless materials.
Entering the main villa through the spectacular 27-foot-high foyer, one is greeted and dazzled by a magnificent view of the deepest blue ocean of Costa Rica's Pacific coast. The immediate effect is mesmerizing and stimulating - even for the owners to this day. A few steps further down is the real infinity pool surrounded by a terrace, where you can sunbathe after a refreshing dip (water temperature 90 degrees) and enjoy one spectacular Costa Rican sunset after another.
On the same level, to the west, there's a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, dining room and outdoor terrace. There's also a well-located office/studio and a powder room. A few steps to the east is the master bedroom with a view of the Pacific (through 27 feet of windows) and two guest bedrooms with a shared bathroom. All bedrooms and service areas are linked in perfect harmony by transparent sunshades, so you won't miss a moment of the breathtaking Pacific panorama.
In 2010, an extension wing added a state-of-the-art home cinema room with leather sofas just flown in from Italy and a state-of-the-art, custom-designed Tuscan wine cellar. The temperature- and humidity-controlled wine cellar has a capacity of 1,000 bottles and accommodates an intimate table for two for hideaway meals. On the top level of this new wing is a party terrace offering spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.
On the villa's first level, a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment is currently used as a janitor's cottage. In addition, an exterior studio/office with its own bathroom and kitchenette is currently used as the owner's personal office. Five storage rooms and two laundry rooms are strategically placed throughout the villa, making the services of each area convenient and strategic.
The estate is large enough to allow the construction of additional buildings if desired. Villa Romantica has used the strictest building codes, and the finest materials, all the wooden structure is "almendro" which is practically denser than steel. All ceramic tiles are imported from Italy.
The masonry-reinforced concrete construction exceeds Costa Rican building code standards, proving that the 2012 earthquake (7.6) caused no damage. The roofs are covered for life with terracotta tiles to attenuate the heat and noise of the rain.
